I am a dancer who fell in love with Pilates. I began dancing at a very young age and became increasingly aware of the toll it had taken on my body. Movement has always been a part of my life. After my first Pilates session, I knew it was something I could continue practicing when I was ready to leave the stage. With every lesson, my passion for the method grew, to the point that I wanted to share it with others.
My training was very different from the way most Pilates certification programs are structured today. I trained at Drago’s in New York City, which later became True Pilates New York. There were no required training hours; advancement was based on what you could do physically and how effectively you taught.
I waited tables and bartended until 4:00 a.m., then turned around and arrived at the studio by 8:00 a.m. to observe, practice the method, and complete other apprentice responsibilities. I was fortunate to know Romana and take lessons with her, but the majority of my training came from the teachers she trained at Drago’s. Kathi Ross-Nash, Jerome Weinberg, Cynthia Lochard, Cynthia Shipley, Moses Urbano, Jeanie, and Edwina were some of my greatest influences, along with the many other wonderful guest teachers who came through New York.
After two years of intensive training, I became certified in classical Pilates through Romana’s Pilates NYC in 2008. I was invited to remain on staff and spent the next five years continuing my study of this incredible method. I also continued studying privately with Kathi Ross-Nash for the following seven years. I assisted her and was featured in her book, The Red Thread of Pilates: The Mat. I have also appeared in many of her videos on Pilatesology, in addition to filming classes of my own.
I seek to inspire my clients to move and enjoy their lives more passionately. In 2017, I was introduced to FEET-NESS, an in-depth program focused on the feet. Not only am I a dancer, but I also love a good heel! The feet have always been important to me. I earned my certification in 2018, becoming the first FEET-NESS teacher and a brand ambassador.
Never satisfied with the limits of my knowledge, I continued craving more information about biomechanics and the anatomy of movement. Through Ilaria, CEO of FEET-NESS, and my coworkers at Pilates on 66, I was introduced to the ELDOA method. I was immediately hooked.
Created by French osteopath Guy Voyer, DO, ELDOA is a method designed to decoapt joints in the spine, shoulder girdle, rib cage, pelvis, and sacroiliac joint. It can result in less pain, more space and hydration within the joints, healthier fascial tissue, improved blood flow, and heightened awareness and proprioception. The knowledge he shares about fascia and the body is unlike anything I have encountered in another program.
After many hours of studying and practicing, I became one of 106 certified ELDOA trainers worldwide as of May 2019.
I work with clients of all ages, helping them become more aware of their bodies and improve the way they move. Pilates, FEET-NESS, and ELDOA help me achieve these goals. I have also had the opportunity to work with competitive dancers, paddleboarders, and surfers, which has only strengthened my love and dedication for what I do.
As a teacher, educator, and coach, I encourage my clients to be the best they can be. I love motivating them to keep smiling and never give up.
Teaching each and every client continues to fill my heart! In every session, I see my clients gaining the confidence to reach for more. Every day, I seek to grow both personally and professionally. My dedication and drive to help others become pain-free, strong, and flexible have led me to truly love what I do.
“You should learn something new every day.”
